Ancient Chinese Art

Taijiquan is traditional Chinese internal martial art. Today it is mostly practiced for its great health benefits but traditionally it was more used for self defence. Its basic principle is to unify and harmonize the two opposite forces of yin and yang which pervade human body and entire cosmos. Through slow, completely relaxed movement which is not improvised but strictly follows the rules laid down by the old masters, one achieves deep stillness and great inner strength. Thus many forms consist of slow movements but some, more advanced techniques also use sudden bursts of energy and faster movements.

Taiji is returning and preserving vitality
So says old Chinese proverb - and even today in China yang and old people practice taiji in parks and streets and it is also gaining its popularity here in Slovenia.

Traditionally a martial art
It is said that taijiquan is the highest martial technique - it is overpowering and neutralizing the opponent by using his strength. However, if in the past taijiquan was used to survive, today we can use it to fight the enemies like fast and unhealthy living, racing for material possessions, disharmony with nature etc. If we are able to stop while in this stressful situations and spend some moments in listening to our inner self, we will automatically harmonize with everything around us and more so with that what lies within us.

Also part of Traditional Chinese medicine
The health benefits of taiji are so vast and obvious that modern medicine has started promoting this art more and more. The practice is strengthening bones, joints and muscles; it is slowing down bone mass loss (curing osteoporosis and arthritis), improving balance and coordination. Relaxed deep breathing is strengthening inner organs, the force or qi is enhanced and its circulation through acupuncture channels is smooth. The mind is calm, clear and focused. Our whole body gets relaxed, health strengthened and psycho-physical balance restored.
